911

2021 sheriff department

Bath County’s law enforcement and emergency service first responders are called to duty by the Bath County 911 ECC (Emergency Communications Center) based in Warm Springs.  Operated and managed by the Bath County Sheriff’s Office, the ECC is located in an older building at the Courthouse complex that was renovated for that purpose in 2008.  In addition to answering 911 lines and dispatching first responders and law enforcement, the on-staff communications officers monitor various feeds from local, state and federal resources to maintain situational awareness and to inform officials of potentially dangerous events.

The enhanced 911 system is an on-site solution supplied by InterACT and Emergency Call Works.  E911 calls from landline based telephones are automatically located on the GIS (geographical information system) map.   GPS enabled cellular telephones allows the communications officer to locate a 911 caller by GPS coordinates.  This data allows the officer to quickly determine the most appropriate agency or closest officer to help the caller.

The E911 office is staffed by eight full time certified communications officers under the direction of Sergeant Teresa Phillips, Emergency Communications Supervisor/ VCIN Coordinator.
