The Commissioner of the Revenue is a Constitutional Officer who is elected to a four year term and serves at the pleasure of the voters. The Commissioner is the chief assessing officer of the locality. The Commissioner of Revenue is responsible for ensuring equitable application of the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and ordinances of the County of Bath directed by the Code of Virginia.

Tax Preparation begins January 31, 2024
Hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
In-person preparation by Appointment Only.
Drop Box or Drop off: Documents must be enclosed in a sealed envelope along with the information sheet  provided by the Commissioners Revenue office.  Envelopes may be  dropped off at the Commissioners of Revenue Office or in the gray drop box at the rear of the Court House.  

2023 Tax Information Sheet (must be with all tax preparation documents in person or dropped off )

Personal Property Report Date: May 1st

Land Use Revalidation and Renewal Deadline: May 1st
Personal Property Tax Payment Due Date
: December 5th
Real Estate Payments Due Date: June 5th and December 5th
Tax Relief Application Due Date: May 1st
Meals and Lodging Due Date: 20th of the month following the reported month
Mixed Beverage Application Due Date: June 1st, to avoid expiration on June 13th
Federal Income Tax Due: April 15th
State Income Tax Due: May 1st
